about violets in may

The name violets in may conjures up many memories of my mother, Violet May.  She was always a strong support to me growing up and well into my adult years.  She would have been proud to have had this venture named after her and to see me follow my dream of setting up this business.

I am based in Melbourne, Australia, and live with my cat, Regis.  His interest in in my work is limited to the boxes that my stock comes in and the occasional finding that falls on the floor and becomes a favourite toy.

While I am mostly focussed on fused glass now. I started in jewellery, as many others before me, by stringing beads.  This introduction sparked an interest colour and design and the possibilities of using different forms.  A number of short courses later, in precious metal clay (PMC), metal working and fused glass, have further spurred my interest and curiosity.

Fusing glass requires a combination of design and science to ensure a quality outcome. The combination of layout and temperature give a myriad of design possibilities. As all pieces are handmade, each is individual and cannot be exactly replicated.

I hope you enjoy my designs and that you will communicate with me on Facebook.
